Deer Park
Adjoined to the `couples filled’ Rose garden, is the Deer park (Chanakyapuri) which is safe bet when accompanied by kids. The animals here, keep the kids’ thrill quotient high. Nothing beats the bewilderment in their eyes as they watch the grazing deer and the rabbits in huge enclosures. As for the greenery, there isn’t plenty of grass around but the park makes up for it beautifully with lots of trees and shrubs. And if you haven’t packed yourself a hamper, a must visit is the multicuisine Park Baluchi Restaurant that’s great for family and romantic meal.
Lodhi Garden
You can spend a good part of the visit, walking through the great tombs and ruins within this huge park. If seeking solitude, the quite spots are aplenty which also provide the perfect excuse for you to enjoy those groovy bites that you brought along. But just watch out for those birds and their droppings… Lodhi Gardens is a premier spot for bird watching! The Lodhi Garden Restaurant within the park rates high on the "romantic meal" index in south Delhi.

This picnic spot near Rashtrapati Bhavan needs no introduction. The lawns are choc-a-block when the weather is good. From joint families to lazy loners, you’ll find them all here, with their sheets, blankets and hampers of goodies. Café Citrus lives up to its name; hence, makes sure you leave it suitably refreshed. Huge glass windows allow plenty of natural light to pour in without you actually feeling the heat. Spacious seating enables you to enjoy more than just elbow space. But, what really puts a smile to your lips are the laminated table mats that double up as joke book of sorts. Once they’ve managed to tickle your funny bone, the rest is easy!
Laughter might not be the best appetizer but it indeed is the best digestive. So once you’ve made sure you’ve had your fill, you can concentrate on the food. Citrus serves multicuisine food and there is very little on the menu that can’t be classified as delicious! For starters, try the crispy-fried vegetable pepper salt. The veggies do not drip with oil and the flavouring is light. On a hot day, you could try the jal jeera, masala chaas or some lassi. They also do regular beverages, such as, great milkshakes and the usual chilled beer.
Everything from the all-American club sandwiches to the soups and main course are worth the penny, both in quality as well quantity. Do try the Parsi favourite sali boti, pastas in cheese sauce, chicken stroganoff or the Thai green curry with steamed rice. The steaks and egg preparations also have many takers. Dessert? You just can’t miss the Mississippi mud pie or the apple strudel, both veritable show stoppers.
Being housed in a star hotel has its benefits when it comes to service. The stewards treat you by the book. If you do have any complaints about the food, they’ll politely bring you a new order. That has definitely helped them go a long way with foodies in Delhi and beyond.
Needless to say, Café Citrus is a hot favourite with residents of Gurgaon, and those passing through. Who knows, you might also find this place irresistible!
